85 minutes in and today is my first viewing of this referee and
I was very impressed a masterclass performance let the game flow
step in at potential flashpoints and showed YC’s when warranted
certainly displays a calm yet authoritive demeanour

He did his reputation no harm in the remaining minutes either.
Two players took to off-the-ball all-in wrestling late in the
game and he promptly stopped play, flashed his red card at both
and restarted with a drop ball (presumably because he could not
determine the instigator?).
It was all over in a handful of seconds and VAR had no (active)
involvement. Refreshing.

I've seen this ref many times before as I watch La Liga quite
often and I must agree with the above, he is in my top 3 (if I
don't count Lahoz) alongside Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez and
Jesus Gil Manzano.

Am I strange in the fact that I would rather have and watch
Lahoz referee a match than Del Cerro Grande ?

If it is strange then I too am keeping strange company as I
certainly prefer watching Lahoz.

Interesting how others (see law 5 blog) have pasted him for his
performance.
Although at least 1 of the authors is not a believer of having a
"feel for the game" and sees things in black and white

Jose Montero is very much of an anemia. Not particularly loved
in Spain for the many conspiracy rhetoric theories put out there
that he hates Real Madrid and Loves Barca, similar to the other
way round about Lahoz love of Real which has never been proven
or has any substance. Thought he did ok Sunday could of done
better could of been worse was a average performance made easy
by the players Sunday night.
