Im afraid Mr Dickson was not only poor last night but incorrect
       in law.
It was a very hard fought game, players were visiably wound up,
questionning everything - this was not picked up early enough by
the referee and as a consequence there were times when the
players were managing the game. I am all for dialogue and
explanation but too many times this became an undermining
conversation where KD had to repeat himself several times. At
moments like this take the game by the scruff of the neck and
       "boss" it.
Owen Farrell committed a reckless tackle - shoulder to head,
forceful, should have been red card. Game continued for some
phases before stopping. TMO Hodnett alerted Dickson to the act
of foul play but for some reason he proceeded to talk about
phases of play (relevant to tries but not foul play).
Farrell stayed on, kicked the winning drop goal but he will be
cited and likely suspended - none of which Gloucester benefitted
       from.
Twice recently I have watched KD and I am concerned with the
       quality on show.

A disappointing performance overall. Finally, I have found what
it is about KD that unsettles me. His communication, eloquence,
wit, and use of words are not as good as say Nigel Owens or
Wayne Barnes, the latter's legal background helping. The George
incident at the end of the first half is a good example. Farrell
understandably wanted to know why a penalty to Saracens had been
reversed and KD's poor explanation left Farrell somewhat bemused
and so the latter continued to dispute the decision. Looked bad
imho. Furthermore, for me there was too much backchat.
As for the controversial tackle, I could accept yellow as the
degree of danger was relatively low but who knows these days?
Either way, he should have gone to the sidelines and it probably
       affected the result.
Also, KD failed to speed the game in the way Luke Pearce did at
       Saints last week.
Both teams however served up a good match and I enjoyed it.

according to some comments I read yesterday morning on
gloucester live Farrell committed a reckless tackle which was
like the one tuisue did the weekend before he gets yellow yet
Farrell more or less committed the same tackle and stays on and
to add insult to injury slots a kick over deep in the red to win
the game he should not have been on the pitch should have been a
draw gloucester would be fine with that they played well I don't
think it does Dicksons selection for France any good

I don’t follow rugby much at all apart from watching the odd
live game if nothing else on
       …
What is the function of a citing commissioner?

Incidents that go unnoticed, unpunished or under punished can be
referred to disciplinary - so Farrell's tackle if deemed to be
       red card can be reviewed

Farnell has been cited so by Tuesday we will find out if it
should have been red and how long any possible ban may be. I
hope justice is served both to the principles of the game and
the player I.e. no fudge to allow him to play in 6 nations while
at the same time treating Farrell fairly. Sadly, Farrell has
previous which may have to be taken into consideration.
Also I have read that Wayne Barnes ignored a head on head
incident this weekend. I have not seen it but given the calibre
of the referee it is reminder that not all head contact is
illegal and can be termed a rugby incident.

The Wayne Barnes one was a tough call. Tuilagi was low as was
Allen however the speed in which Tuilagi came in was very
dangerous, he was clearly out of control. Also, there was no
attempt to wrap. Can see why Barnes said play on but for me it
was very dangerous. Should have been red imo.

It was a simple error in law, not sure this will have much
       impact on his selection/not

Farrell gets a 4 week ban reduced to 3 if he successfully
completes tackle school course. Reading his point of view, you
can understand why it happened. However, potentially it could
have had serious consequences if he did the same thing again. 3
match ban thereby making him available for six nations feels
right, no preferential treatment or unfair treatment imho.
Regardless, should have been dealt with at the time as it
impacted on the maych result. Imagine what the reaction would be
if it was a WC match? Stronger TMO may have helped which I would
expect you would get in WC games.
