Not seen a red card like that in ages!
Blackburn player throws the ball lightly at the head of Riley
McGree and is sent off for it

I haven’t seen the incident so can’t comment specifically on it,
but it does worry me in England that refs seem happy to dismiss
for relatively soft cases of violent conduct yet consistently
under-punish challenges that tick the boxes of serious foul
play!

Petulant yes. Violent , never in a thousand years. What I'd like
to know is who made the decision to send him off because the
referee clearly has his back to the incident. Absolutely
scandalous and the officials should be totally embarrassed.

If Blackburn FC and/or the player feel he has been wrongfully
dismissed, there's always the right of appeal (for straight
RCs). It will be interesting to see whether (a) an appeal is
lodged and (b) if so, whether it's successful. I make no comment
about the incident or sanction as they're totally subjective, as
are a lot of decisions, of course.

It's soft, but he still threw the ball at the back of a players
head. I can see the argument that it doesn't warrant a red, but
I'm not sure it's clearcut either way
