       Oh for the good old days when clubs weren’t allowed to wear
       colours which clashed with the referee’s black kit

       And goalkeepers predominently wore Green.

       Some may not like custard or apple crumble.

       Apple crumble is lush! Always ice cream though, no matter how
       cold it is. If no ice cream then cream will do. Not a fan of
       custard, nothing to do with the colour of it but the taste and
       texture - yuk.

       I seem to recall at one point in the distant mists of time that
       goalkeepers could only wear yellow if they had played for
       England?

       I dont have a problem with sides wearing black/dark kits but
       please follow the laws of the game where a referee will wear a
       kit that "distinguishes them from all players". We have enough
       colours to choose from.
       Interesting in FL games referees rarely wore black with
       Southend's home kit, yet in NL the officials have no choice
       (same I would imagine with Notts C and Grimsby)

       I remember back in early 1998/99 season travelling to Swindon
       to see my beloved Sunderland play and our away kit was a very
       very dark almost black shirt.
       Referee was Scott Mathieson who in the first half ( along with
       the assistants) wore black.
       You have heard the accusations where one side played with
       fourteen men and in this case it certainly appeared to be the
       case in the first half as you just couldn't distinguish referee
       and linesmen from Sunderland players and there were numerous
       occasions the passes out onto the wing found the assistant
       referee and not the Sunderland winger.I suppose it is just as
       well a Swindon player didn't go flying into a tackle as it would
       have been a 50/50 chance it was an opponent and not the ref
       😀😀😀
       At half time three white T shirts had been sourced and the
       officials saw out the second half.
       Someone got a rollicking the following week.Not sure if it was
       Mr Mathieson or SAFC.
