R MADLEY - Brentford v Wolves

Looks like a busy afternoon for Madley on his return with 6
yellows and a red for Diego Costa apparently via VAR for a head
butt.
Haven’t seen the game and looking forward to the highlights
later.

Just seen the headbutt on Twitter and I think once Bankes has
told Madley to go the screen, it was always going to be red -
there does appear to be a movement of his head towards Ben Mee.
Mee was holding onto his shirt and Costa retaliated.
What does surprise me is this is the first red card Costa has
ever received in the Premier League!

As Mee was holding onto his shirt then why wasn't there a review
for a penalty as that offence was in the box and happened first?

We have to assume that, should Wolves appeal, this will be
overturned. Given the situation with the Douglas Luiz red card
showing that it is acceptable to put your head into someone
else’s.

I’m glad his back !! Did a really tidy job ….. showed the class
that is lacking among 75% of the current select group list !!!
Easy 6 cautions … could of had more but had a few words here and
there, but you can tell the class compared to most SG list refs
!! Riley needs to get him back out next week

You have to be joking. Better than most SG1. IMHO he shouldn’t
have got back so easily after his discretion. Even when he was
SG1 he was anything but good. Way below standard required. I’m
sure he will get back because someone who mattes thinks he is
good enough. I think if you looked back at previous posts when
he was SG1. Most of them were critical and very few
complimentary. I’m afraid he will get little support from me .

I don't think there was anything much discreet about what he
did. It's certainly clear that many of us posters have our
favourite referees and those we do not care for so much. It was
ever thus. I am speaking personally here but I think I often
judge ability through the lens of style. If I don't like a
referee's style of officiating and I confess I don't like Bobby
Madley's much, then that tends to affect my estimation.
Similarly I am sure I cut far more slack to a referee whose
style I like and admire.
