       T HARRINGTON - Newcastle v Everton

A good performance from Harrington. He seems to be settling in
well to the upper echelons of English football.
Has hardly been noticed and the cards all warranted… the
Tarkowski challenge looked nasty on Christie but yellow was
       sufficient.
Not a bad AR pairing for him either!

Harrington has had a good run of games to press his claims and
seems to be in decent fettle too. From following the BBC Sport
feed, he had his work cut out controlling the game but did a
sound job. Not a referee I would have said that would have gone
on to good things but what do I know? 😆

I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen so far from Harrington.
A good performance in this game.
One oddity tonight was highlighted on a post on Twitter is that
Maupay was wearing blue socks when he came on as sub, whilst his
team mates were all wearing white. Not a huge issue in the
scheme of things, but where would responsibility for consistency
       of kit lie?

I would say on the player for not being able to get dressed
properly. Or the kitman, coaches, managers, teammates, and so
on. Yes the 4th official should have also spotted it (if he
didn't), but it should have been sorted way before that.

Absolutely agree that the issue lies with the player/kit team,
just more curiosity as to whether there would be any come back
on the officials in such a case. It didn’t make any difference
to anything and the only place I’d seen it picked up was by the
twitter account of a company which sells Newcastle United themed
socks who used it as a joke/marketing exercise.

Very impressive. First half in particular he let a lot go which
made for an entertaining spectacle, whilst still taking action
when necessary. There were two flashpoints where players from
both sides came together and he dealt with them perfectly, in
that after the first one he got both captains in and reminded
everyone of their responsibilities, and then after the second
one he cautioned the two aggressors and dealt with it perfectly
calmly. The second half was slightly more stop/start but can't
think of too much he got wrong at all.

There is nothing in Law that says a player must wear the same
colour socks as his team mates, only that they must wear colours
that distinguish them from the other team and the match
officials. Competition rules may say something different of
       course.

Certainly at FL level the colours are nominated before the game
and you would expect all players of that team to be the same.
It is, however, a reportable matter only and not 1 for the
referee to get involved with at the time
