Manchester United vs. Tottenham, Simon Hooper [VAR: Oliver]

So far, so good for the rookie referee from Swindon in a 'big
six' PL game. Besides not cautioning De Gea/Fernandes for
mobbing dissent at 45' (and we know there is a de facto carte
blanche on this from PGMOL...), I would say faultless 1H by
       Simon Hooper!
(NB: I missed first bit of the game, but checked a liveticker
and seems I didn't miss anything).

Can’t really blame him for not cautioning them as the ball hit
Dalot in the face full flush and he didn’t stop the game as he
had done on two occasions when other players got hit in face
with the ball I think Hooper knew he had made a error that aside
he’s let the game flow and there’s been no complaints or dissent
other than what the OP mentioned

Great advantage to allow Man Utd to score, could easily have
       blown 👏👏
Also nice to hear the commentators mention it!

Super advantage played by Hooper for the second Man U goal when
       Hussin flagged for offside.

Sorry but this is an absolute masterclass from Mr hooper this
evening and a lot better than I have seen Taylor officiate in a
       long long time

Hooper has fully justified his appointment and if he carries
this form through the rest of the season I can very well see him
getting the league cup final, like Marriner he is not a big
sprinter but gets himself in good positions to make the correct
       decisions

Really not the same thing. The shot that hit Dier was
travelling as fast as a ball can travel and everyone saw the
reaction when it hit him, that isn't unlike being hit by a
boxer, he was completely dazed. The one that hit Dalot was
travelling at a tenth of the pace and his complaint was more
that it had winded him as hit him in the throat.
Excellent performance by Simon Hooper, looks much more confident
and that can only come from getting games.

The PGMOL bosses put their faith in Simon Hooper and he
delivered. People are waxing lyrical about him at the moment and
justifiably so too. A Tottenham supporting mate joined in the
praise on the phone to me a short while ago.
Agree with a previous post that Hooper has to be in line for one
of the big three domestic Cup finals if he maintains this really
consistent, high quality standard of officiating. He has
improved out of all recognition and is unrecognisable now from
       his uncertain, diffident beginnings.
       Great work!

A referee with a smile on his face. Shame Spurs did not turn up!
Hard to find fault really, sometimes head "injuries" are
difficult to spot in real time especially given the (yawns! NOT
ALLOWED) of footballers these days. Flailing arm - stop the
game, hits throat - stop the game. Especially if you are
defending. I have wondered whether in all the games played over
the years, has a head injury that was not treated promptly been
made worse? Anyhow, I digress as praise should be given where
       its due.

Easily the best performance of the season , brilliant imo ,
definitely deserving of more high profile fixtures.
