5th September - I've only just seen it and didn't remember it
happening.

The EFL is incredibly frustrated that a technology failure at
Huddersfield Town and Blackpool has overshadowed a fantastic
weekend of action on the pitch.
We have now received an initial assessment from Hawk-Eye, the
providers of the Goal Line Technology service in the
Championship, that during a second-half incident with
Huddersfield attacking, the match officials did not receive a
signal to their watch or earpiece as, due to multiple factors,
the ball was no longer being tracked following it entering the
Blackpool goal area.
Separately, PGMOL have confirmed officials were unsighted due to
obstruction by players and therefore unable to award a goal.
While the system was tested and functional prior to the start of
the game, further information is expected from both Hawk-Eye and
PGMOL following a full review of the incident.
Technology is there to support the decision-making processes of
match officials in the Championship and it failing in such a
manner on Sunday is a matter of great concern.
For clarity, the referee’s decision is final and the match
result stands.

A bit harsh saying the officials were 'unsighted' - unless they
had been made aware that the technology had failed then they
would have rightly trusted it.

There was the Aston Villa V Sheff Utd precedent so you'd hope
the officials would at least have some awareness that there
could be technical problems. But obviously the very marginal
decisions have always been most difficult for officials to judge
with certainty, which is why GLT was introduced initially so I
agree you cannot really blame the officials at all if it was
very close. And of course, unlike the PL example I mentioned,
there was not VAR as a potential back-up. I guess ideally in
that scenario you'd want the ball to hit the back of the net so
it's obvious to all and also shows the tech isn't working.
We obviously want the GLT system to be as accurate as possible
so right the matter should be investigated and any relevant
improvements made but I'm not sure what else can really be said
about it to be honest. Presumably the goal wouldn't have been
given under the previous system of just leaving it to the match
officials and we've certainly had fewer wrong decisions with GLT
than we did before it.

I don't think it's "harsh"; it's giving them a get out. If they
were not unsighted they should have seen the ball cross the line
and awarded the goal.

if you've seen the incident it's clear that the AR was unsighted
(players on the line, ball at the far post and a diving keeper)
so it's entirely accurate to say that
