       Darren England ON VAR

I’m sorry to say it but Darren England doesn’t seem to have any
confidence to make unpopular or big calls.
Too many times this season and last his been on VAR, and has
proved to be indecisive or perception is scared to make a big
       decision.
I’m a Arsenal fan but how he allowed Gabriel to get away with
that handball yesterday was awful, if it was the other way round
       I would be going mental….
Sadly adding onto the fact when he was in the middle of
Newcastle game other day when he tried to play advantage from a
serious foul play tackle shows me he is way out of dept now, no
way should the powers that be be pushing him to be our #1 in 5/6
years time, he just doesn’t have it to make big deceive
       decisions.

I'd have to think back on other VAR controversies he's been
involved in. My perception was he had not been involved in as
much controversy as some and seemed to be getting good
appointments in the role but I'd need to dig a bit deeper.
Before this season, England seemed to have settled in well to
the PL as a on-field referee and was probably ahead of Rob
Jones, which I wouldn't have expected when they were both
promoted. He has perhaps not quite found his stride yet this
       season for whatever reason.
Whether he has what it takes to become an elite FIFA referee I
don't know but I think it's premature to be writing him off.
With the right training and development, I think he has good
potential as both a VAR and referee.
