Not that it mattered in the end, but having 2 Australian umpires
in charge of a match critical to Australia's progress in the
competition was unfortunate.

There was a controversial decision from TV Umpire Langton Rusere
in the crucial Pakistan v Bangladesh match. Adrian Holdstock
gave Bangladesh captain Shakib Al-Hasan out LBW on field. Shakib
reviewed the decision immediately and there appeared to be a
spike on snicko as the ball passes the bat. However, Rusere
ruled that the spike was due to the bat hitting the ground.
In my view, it was an inside edge because there seemed to be
daylight between bat and ground.

That is what I believe happened as well. Poor decision

Good to see some other names in Reiffel and Illingworth get a
semi final appointment. However, disappointed to see Dharmasena
get his customary semi final appointment. Would have preferred
to see Tucker or Gaffaney appointed.

Good to see Erasmus with a semi.
Guess icc loathed to appoint menon or dar to either of the
semis.
Would have preferred to see Tucker and Paul Wilson on the first
semi rather than the english contingent.
Guess icc are hamstrung with there being few top class elite
officials outside the four countries that are in the semis.
Would expect Erasmus and an Australian to get the final, but if
England fail to make it Kettlebrough may get the nod with
Erasmus.

Usually follows that the Umpires for the final have both been
appointed on field to a semi final as well.

Was expecting an Australian but I was sure it would be Rod
Tucker. Pleasantly surprised to see Paul Reiffel appointed to
what I believe is his first ICC tournament semi final.
Erasmus and Dharmesena were almost certainities. Illingworth is
good so I'm pleased he was appointed.

With the final being Pakistan vs England, I’m predicting the
following umpire appointments for the final.
