       George 'Larry' Lamb

       Times today reports the death of Air Vice Marshall George Lamb
       aka 'Larry' at the age of 99. Larry was a top rugby union
       referee in the 1960s and refereed 18 internationals between 1966
       and 1971, half of them involving France as he could speak
       French! During a Wales v South Africa match, he instructed both
       teams to change their shirts as the mud made it impossible for
       him to determine who was playing for who! I recall Larry from my
       schooldays at a rugby-playing grammar school. RIP.
