       Chris Kavanagh Leicester vs Brighton

Now a very tight VAR offside decision that took far too long.
Was such a good goal as well.

Shoutout to Tony Harrington, who I've been very impressed with.
Some great advantages, and a good call on the penalty - and has
generally contributed very positively to an excellent game of
football. Let's hope he gets another game in the next round of
       fixtures.
My only moans about VAR in this match are about the length of
time it took, though I appreciate it was a tight call on
       offside.

The problem was they were struggling to find an image to draw
the lines. What I don't understand is why they sent Harrington
to the monitor, once they had decided he was offside it was very
obvious that he had attempted to play the ball.

Commentary were suggesting Chris wanted Tony to decide if the
Brighton player was interfering with play, which he was.
I'm wondering if SG1 are lacking confidence in using VAR,
especially after yesterday's shambles - that wouldn't normally
have a referee going to the monitor, but I was wondering if
Chris wanted Tony to confirm what he was viewing.

Not sure I understand that, perhaps you could explain the
process. I assumed they stopped the footage at the point the
ball was played and worked with that picture. Where were they
       looking for another one ?

I think, and others will correct me if I'm wrong, but it's to do
with the angle of images available. There needs to be a clear
right angle view inline with the incident to ensure accuracy of
the lines. If the angle is ahead or behind it's not accurate. If
they don't have that then they needs a maths degree to get it
lined up as accurately as possible. One of them explained it to
me a long while ago & from memory that's what they said!

The only thing to be said about today's VAR offside "goal" was
that the correct decision was made (eventually!). Looked clearly
offside to me from the onset but what do I know?! [emoji1]

Confirms my suspicions that we don't have the right people doing
       the job !

Limitations of the technology available as well, hence the
research into the "robot" offside technology

I think it's normal practice for an On-Field Review to happen
for such offside incidents as there is an element of
interpretation rather than it being simply a matter of fact -
even if the correct interpretation is often pretty obvious.
