Michael Oliver - Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth

Has Oliver just rejected the VAR review? If so it’s about time a
referee stuck to the decision and shows why is the number 1 in
the country.

They are saying it shouldn’t have been awarded.
Will be interesting to see the highlights later.

Correct or not it’s nice to see a ref not just go over to the
monitor for the sake of it

Correct decision well done to Graham Scott for wasting 5 minutes
for no reason what so ever.
Scott is by far the worst referee in the league, had a mare in
the game he refereed and now this.
Shame Peter Bankes couldn’t have done the same and ignored
Attwell in midweek

In the hierarchy of referees it is probably easier for Oliver to
override Scott than for Bankes to override Attwell.

Great decision on field, I don't know what Scott was thinking,
but amazing from Oliver to reject it

Sorry, but this looked like a 'Champions League' penalty award
to me - ball struck with ferocity from a v short distance away,
hands down - what was the defender supposed to do? Oliver might
have been seen as 'courageous' to stick to his guns, but in my
view, the decision was a clear and obvious error in the PL and
I'm with the VAR on this one.

I would question whether it was a clear and obvious error AT.
When it comes to assessing the proximity of the defender and
pace of the ball for a potential handball offence, doesn't that
become a subjective decision for the on-field referee if he had
a good sight of the incident which Oliver certainly appeared to
have? Once Scott had checked the ball hit the arm (and not the
shoulder for example), I'm not clear why in this instance he
would press for an OFR (and I assume there would have been
conversation with Oliver anyway). Of course, there's always
room for debate afterwards whether a referee made the correct
subjective decision. In this incident, I wouldn't say the
defender''s hands were down either and wouldn't it have been the
movement of the body and position of the arms that likely
convinced Oliver?
