Any part of the body that a player CAN score from is used
       regarding offside/VAR.

My concern about timekeeping is that players can still go down,
feign injury and the clock does not stop right away. Therefore,
timewasting still pays. Perhaps it is in play time that matters?

I know that but the issue of benefit of the doubt was being
completely ignored in this instance. From Eddie Howe after the
match: "I've gone in and asked for an explanation and they've
told me that the VAR officials couldnt decide so based their
decision on the shadows of the two players. I'm flabbergasted."

Because that is the offside law!
The approach to offsides to VAR this season in PL is the same as
last. The attacking and defending lines are mapped out. If they
touch then it is onside, so that is where the benefit now comes
from. The VAR takes what the system tells them - they don't
subjectively apply any benefit of the doubt themselves.

There is no benefit of doubt with VAR and never has been. You
are either on or off, and if you are level you are on.

Whilst I might almost be prepared to believe that Eddie Howe
actually uttered those words (but I would need to see him say it
to be convinced); I simply do not believe that was the
       explanation he was given.
It is either 100% fake, or EH has gone with what the most recent
       US President calls "alternative truths".

Agreed but this would require an external timekeeper. I don't
want to be constantly stopping and starting my watch when
refereeing. It would be a distraction. I find it hard to
believe that IFAB would allow a bifurcation of the Laws between
the professional and recreational games for something as
fundamental as timekeeping. Where are all these extra officials
(and the cash to pay them) going to come from? If it did
happen, where would the line be drawn?

I'm not prepared to believe Eddie said that at all. It's simply
not the sort of thing he would say. He's always been very
       respectful towards match officials.
