I've seen it twice now but I love watching games when Kieran
Trippier is playing with the armband.
On Wednesday against Tranmere and today he has stopped his team
mates from crowding referee Mr Bankes!
       Its very nice to see

Newcastle should have had a penalty fairly early on for a
blatant shirt pull in the box. Peter was very lenient on what
he considered a foul, probably a bit too lenient. This made the
disallowed goal by VAR appear a little inconsistent with some of
his earlier decisions - albeit it was the correct decision to
       disallow the goal.

How he didn’t give the foul that lead to the disallowed goal I
will never know! A clear foul by the wolves player

He could have done with some help from his AR who would be able
to see the push more clearly. From memory, the referee was
looking at it from behind and was probably unsure because so
many players fall over in situations similar to that in order to
try to con the officials. In my opinion, the AR should
definitely have seen it from his angle.

With the way referees are interpreting the let the game flow
orders that’s only a foul these days if it leads to a goal
       nowadays.

From just the MOTD highlights, Bankes has gotten too much wrong
in real time. The penalty is blatant holding, and how the the
VAR then doesn’t come in to bail him out is a mystery - exactly
what VAR is for. I thought the bad tackle was a RC for SFP as
well, and the foul for the disallowed goal was an easy decision.
Like the forest handball, I think this is is a downside of VAR -
the refs are just giving the ‘lesser’ decision and leaving it to
VAR to ‘upgrade’, if needed, rather than make the correct/brave
       decision live.

Fully agree with @arbitro_anglais really really poor from Peter
Bankes carrying on his latest downward curve trend after getting
far too involved as VAR the week before on Gillett red card
       which didn’t need intervention.
How he didn’t think they tackle was a straight red in the Wolves
game !! But as people keep saying they don’t seem to make any
big brave SFP decisions anymore, they all seem keen to let VAR
deal which IMO is totally poor and not what VAR is designed for,
( hopefully this will change when Webb is in the folds, because
MLS refs make he big decisions and get them right. He allows
them the confidence to make a decision.
English refereeing is in serious decline - bar Oliver/Taylor and
Gillett we don’t have anyone remotely credible for FIFA.

We certainly are going to have a lot of players dismissed if we
are going to dismiss them for challenging for a ball and
standing on the foot of their opponent. Neto milked that
situation to the full extent by holding his leg just under the
knee, as is normal from some players/teams in modern football.
He was so badly injured that he only managed to play for a
further 38 minutes until his managed decided to substitute him
in the 84th minute to enable Chan to come on and give a
       wonderful assist to Maximin.
Surely, in this day and age, when managers are always
complaining about the number of games etc. they would remove any
player carrying a bad injury to protect them from further
damage, after all, they are only allowed 5 substitutes these
       days.

Is it any surprise. Bankes is an average ref who was average in
the championship. And will never be more than average. If wolves
v Newcastle is beyond him don’t expect a long Uefa career

To be fair, we shouldn’t judge YC/RC by how injured someone
subsequently is. Lots of players carry in after a RC challenge,
but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t SFP.
