       A BACKHOUSE - Tranmere v Newcastle (EFL)

Thoughts on the Hemmings challenge on Darlow? Looked a red to
       me.
I’m also shocked Hemmings hadn’t been booked yet for a number of
challenges before and that challenge on Darlow would have been
       yellow to red anyway.
       Poor officiating.

Poor from Backhouse red card for me had his studs up and caught
       Darlow.
Not sure how his assistant on that side didnt have a good view
Is Backhouse a NL referee? Have seen better on a Sunday morning.

Most of the away PL teams have had NL officials. We had Swabey
       last night.

Think Backhouse has been poor all night so far… should’ve been a
       defo straight red for Hemmings.

Most of the PL teams have not been PL teams but their reserves.

Very poor from Backhouse tonight…. Certainly won’t be getting
anywhere near SG2 on this performance….

Backhouse was far too lenient on some very unpleasant challenges
last night. The elbow on Lascelles should have been punished as
should a wild challenge on Trippier which could have done
serious damage. And I see Mellon has criticised him for not
disallowing a bit of blocking on Newcastle's first goal!!!

I think Hemmings was lucky to escape a red card; while an
attacker is entitled to go for the ball in that situation as it
wasn't in the keepers control, not in the way that he did with
studs showing. There were some other incidents where many
referees would have brought out a card, but Mr Backhouse chose
not to. However, with my Tranmere hat on, think there is some
validity in the point Mellon made about Byrne being blocked off
in the build-up to the Newcastle equaliser. Howe was quite
evasive when asked about it post-match, so reckon he does too...

He very rarely comments on referees in interviews. He's always
       been the same.
