Another good set of appointments. Good to see Graham Scott and
Tom Bramall get a game as i don't think either of them have had
a prem game yet. Suprised to see Gillett on a tv game given he
was inconsistent in his last game not that i'm complaining as i
think he is one of our better refs. Good to see Michael Oliver
and Anthony Taylor rested as they've both been very busy over
the last 3 weeks especially Michael Oliver. Good to see that the
appointments are a bit more spread out than they were last
season.

Scott has had a game he done Brighton vs Newcastle 2nd weekend
of the season

Maybe as we now have named FIFA VARs and he isn't one of them it
isn't deemed necessary for him to gain experience as a VAR
anymore but just to increase his experience as a referee with
VARs as part of his team. Just a thought based on nothing but my
mind!

You could put Olivier in the same category to but he still does
it maybe they had an option not being FIFA vars whether they
wanted to continue doing it in there league and maybe Taylor
said no and Olivier yes

If we don't get Oliver for a top of table, London derby live on
TV, not sure we ever will to be honest, but very happy with
Jarred Gillett who was head and shoulders the best referee we
had last season on several occasions.

It is interesting that Taylor doesn't do VAR. I think he's the
only one of the current SG1 group and didn't have a single PL VR
appointment last season.
Of course if he doesn't enjoy it or it's not regarded as
something that he's so good at then there's no reason to use
him, just because he's a PL referee. They're different positions
as has been said many times before. It does suggest Taylor might
not go down the specialist VAR route whenever he stops as
Dean/Mason has done but I daresay he'll have some decent options
anyway!

I don't think Oliver had many games as VAR either. It makes no
sense for two reasons: they aren't going to do VAR in Europe,
but also their workload is higher than most of the EPL referees
as they are constantly off for UEFA games or get togethers.
Arguably they should also have less EPL middles than the other
referees, but the lack of talent means they have to be
overworked, no need to add additional games as VAR onto that
workload.
