I think Hussin has flagged for a touch by Wilson who was next to
Almiron when the ball arrived at the body of Almiron.
It clearly wasn’t a touch on and VAR correct to come in and say
goal.

Peter Bankes, fallen asleep? How’s that not a penalty? Anywhere
else on the pitch that’s a foul. Now gives a really soft foul.

Not impressed by mr Gillets inconsistent application of the
yellow card , hopefully his fellow officials will help him at ht
and remind him that Manchester City players do not have
immunity! Other than that he’s ok.

I like Gillet as a referee i think he is a good addition to the
PL but i think he has been really inconsistent first half with
his foul detection

This is Jarred Gillett’s first real big test in the Premier
League and he’s doing ok so far.
A good marker set down with an early caution and the other two
cautions were correct as well.
The Newcastle equaliser was rightly checked and goal given. No
offside and no handball either.
Newcastle fans a little disgruntled at one or two decisions but
the hallmark of this referee is that his decision making is
sound and he doesn’t brook any arguments from the players.
Wouldn’t say it’s been an outstanding performance but neither
has it been terrible. He is contributing to an exciting game and
Gillett gives any game he referees the chance to flow. Now most
football fans wouldn’t disagree with that sentiment.

I'm in 2 minds about it personally, which tells me that Bankes
probably didn't have enough evidence of it being a clear and
obvious error.
I would agree that his tolerance for tackles is lower than what
we've seen from other referees so far this season, and could
perhaps lighten up a bit, but given this is probably his most
high profile PL match so far, I think he's doing OK.
It wasn't shown, but Cancelo has been given a yellow card for
City which some may not be aware of. Rodri (I think) should
also be on a yellow card to be fair.

It’s no different to what Peter Bankes gave a yellow card for
yesterday except one was in the box and one wasn’t

Now a red card from Trippier which has come from him loosing
control of the game, I’m not sure that’s a red though.

I didn’t expect to see red for Trippier when he took out de
Bruyne….
VAR has come in and said it’s only yellow.
This hasn’t been the best I’ve seen of Gillett and it’s a shame
because I rate him highly and is much better than some of the
other SG1 contingent.
