Just been told this is the first time Harrington has refereed
Southampton in the league, apparently he's taken charge of a cup
game with them v Coventry. Does anyone know if this is true?
[/quote]
Yes that’s correct. He’s never refereed Southampton in the
league but was in the middle for their 2-1 win over Coventry in
the 4th round of the FA Cup last season.

Cheers, I thought it must be right because this person is really
knowledgeable, but just thought it was a bit odd and wanted to
check. Much appreciated.

I guess Harrington barely refereed any PL games last season and
Southampton have been in PL since 2012. For teams that have been
in the PL a long time, I guess there's quite a few that
Brooks/Harrington/Salsbury haven't yet refereed in the league.

Anthony Taylor was in a great position to see the Spurs player
pull is opponent by the hair, and did nothing about it, that was
a typical premier league referee these days see nothing and wait
for VAR. Looks like Mike Dean will be making some interesting
decisions if yesterdays performance on VAR is anything to go by.
I would have been very surprised if he had been refereeing the
game that he would have seen the incident regards the violent
conduct by the Spurs player and taken the necessary action.

He was in a position to see it, but you can't possibly know
where he was looking at the time it happened. There's a lot
that happens at corners and it isn't easy to see everything. I
can't find any possible justification for Mike Dean though.
