Josh Smith is SG1?

I think he is actually SG2 but I'm no great authority on these
things!

Adrian Holmes and Mark Scholes potentially club assistants for

Mike Dean as VAR at Chelsea v Spurs.
Last I heard he wasn’t looking at this role so I must have
missed something

It was announced a while ago that he would be a specialist VAR
with his 1st game being West Ham vs Man City 2 days ago. Here is
a link to an article by The Athletic confirming Mike Dean was
going to be a specialist VAR.

Just don’t get what they see in Tierney??? Generally is a weak
official who doesn’t make the big brave decisions. Overall you
can see a pattern already now Dean / Atkinson/ Friend gone that
we really struggling for strength in depth right now.
Taylor good appointment for the big one of the weekend, but defo
need to get Gillett on the big games now too he needs to join
that “A Rank” banding of Oliver and Taylor.
Get Sailsbury out more with Harrington see if they can cut the
mustard.
And week 2, surely let’s blood Bramell in a bit quicker to doing
a middle.

I thought with dean Atkinson etc reitiring it would give more
prem games to ref for Harrington and Salisbury? I think they
both didn't do many last season so an improvement on that is a
start- one of them could have replaced Oliver with him coming
back from Finland after the supercup?
surely Bramell has to get a run of games in the next couple of
prem match days otherwise what's the point of him getting
promoted

Riley's method is to promote someone then give them several 4th
appointments and attendance at many SG1 seminars and training
sessions before allowing them to referee a match between two
teams whom they would have refereed many times in the
Championship previously. It's an ultra cautious approach which I
think was largely formed out of the experience of Attwell's
first and rather disastrous spell refereeing in the PL. In my
view it is too cautious and yet I suppose Hooper has been quite
a successful product of this system. He didn't have the easiest
starts in SG1 but has been given time to develop his confidence
and now is quite a decent referee though I cannot ever see him
being one of the 'big hitters'.
