P TIERNEY - Man U v Brighton

What on earth is John Brooks thinking of at Shockley Park…
Welbeck clearly bundled over by Martinez and VAR says no to a
presumable on field review by Tierney.

It was a clear penalty, no idea how they can say no

Just about as obvious as it can get. You also have to ask what
is the Assistant on that side watching, as he would’ve had an
unbelievably good view to help Tierney out in real time.

Yes, VAR should have requested an OFR but there were two
perfectly capable officials well placed to spot it in the first
place. No idea why VAR should be needed for that given how
blatant it was.
Big question marks over the McTominay challenge too which on
most other days would have ended up getting upgraded...

Have the laws of the game changed? McTominey booked, the
Brighton player recurved treatment, and Tierney asks him to
leave the field….

Paul Tierney really is struggling in this game. Missed a red
card for Mctominay, missed a blatantly obvious penalty. Not sure
what John Brooks is watching. Good decision for the goal though.

John Brooks - the same official that failed to call a free in
the Charity Shield game last week as VAR when the Liverpool
keeper had a hand on the ball… ridiculously overrated

I personally thought the Martinez incident is one best left
on-field and is an example of VAR not re-refereeing incidents
that have clearly been seen and left alone onfield. Think it’s a
grey area decision and therefore not clear and obvious. Just my
opinion anyway!

Has VAR intervened once so far this season?
