1948-49 Notes (1) Format
(exempt) The Amateur Cup finalists were no longer exempt to the
1st Round, instead
Colchester United (R5 previous season) and Leytonstone (1st
Isthmian League) were
given those places. Bournemouth & B.A. (2nd Div 3S) and
Rotherham United (2nd Div 3N)
along with Swindon Town (R5 previous season) were exempted to
the 3rd Round
Changes to R3 Appointments
Burnley v Charlton - Bowers 3 (to P.N.E.)
Preston v Mansfield - Murdoch A. 3 (to Burnley)
Crewe v Sunderland - Thompson 2
Nott'm F. v Liverpool - Topliss 2 (to Sheffield U.)
Sheffield U. v New Brighton- Luty (to Nott'm F.)
Q.P.R. v Huddersfield - Murdoch W. 3
Rotherham v Darlington - Walton 1
Sheffield U. v Wolverhampton W. - Wright H.T. 1
