Bobby Crosses The Border

Scottish referee Bobby Madden will be plying his trade in League
1 and League 2 next season.

Interesting to see how he does, and how it compares refereeing
the likes of Salford City and Port Vale to Old Firm clashes up
here.
Edited to add: Was trying to think of last referee to cross the
border. Remember Joe Timmons who was from Ayrshire moving south
and refereeing in the lower leagues down south before returning
home again. That would be mid to late 80's I think. Cannot think
of any more recent than that

As he's moving for work purposes he clearly doesn't want to ref
full time but if he did, he's certainly got the level and
experience to be in the select group. Aye, he has his moments
and the last time he was at Motherwell was a car crash but he's
a very good referee and is certainly no worse than Tierney,
Attwell and Kavanagh etc.

No worse than Tierney, Attwell and Kavanagh will mean that he
will be much better than the vast majority of referees in
Leagues One and Two.

To answer my own question he is listed as being in Carlisle
according to the FL site, so presumably he is affiliated to
Cumberland FA

So now they've gone back to listing locations again! It won't be
the same unless there's a Spennymoor, Penistone or Newton
Aycliffe in there!

8 miles south of the border! That's only 1 mile further than
Poole to Bournemouth.
