Good luck to Kevin Friend in his new venture, an astute move for
him given his age. A worthy, if middle ranking, member of the
SG1 and also one of the most decent and pleasant people in
senior refereeing circles.
Next season will be a very important one for some of the newer
members of SG1. I think both Gillett and England have shown they
have what it takes to be "big hitters" . Jones has got to move
upwards in taking on some top matches and the PGMOL must be
hoping that they were right to invest in Brooks, Harrington and
Salisbury.

Well they will have to do something!
95 out of 380 games (which by my dodgy maths is 25%) were
covered by the 4 retirees. Thats quite some chunk of games!

I believe a plaque in his honour should be attached to the
tunnel side of the partition surrounding the home bench "Kevin
Friend fell here"... I've already sold his personalised parking
spot!!

Rumour has it sg2 refs, especially stroud will appear at fulham
on the boards next season, so can keep his parking space.

Seeing as East and Friend have retired in revent years will the
car parking slot be Hoopers this coming season.
Good that the Villa get to visit Dean Court on the opening day
again, whilst for me it would be nice
To claim a win there again ( sorry bmb), i hope the season
doesnt end in the same manner for us as did
Back in 2016.

Hoops has his own gold plated parking spot already! Be greedy of
him to have 2 LOL
No pre-match faff and fireworks this time round claretman! Let's
hope for a good game of football and a breakdown in the VAR
feed!! Won't be Clatts as ref this time either. Maybe Hoops will
join us!

Yes, already noted elsewhere on RTR and name added to the 'final
games' database which I maintain. I don't think I ever saw the
'big man' in action, but from what I saw of him on TV, he looked
effective despite appearing ungainly because of his size.

Huxtable came in for a fair bit of stick on RTR. I saw him
referee three times and in each game he put in an extremely good
performance. Yes a giant of a man but moved about the pitch
effectively, if a slightly ungainly manner, and his rapport with
the players appeared to be excellent and he managed games well.
Better then most in accuracy of decision making. No doubt he had
his off days too but my impressions on a threefold sighting were
entirely positive.
He looked to be quite a young man so who knows why he has quit
but I wish him very well in whatever he does next.
