I wonder what the reasons were behind Huxtable? I didn't think
he was that old? Unless he's had a change of personal
circumstances perhaps?
Nice to see that Kettle has finally made way for some fresh
blood. He's had a brilliant career.

I'm a bit surprised Dean is going to be a VAR referee as it
seemed like he could potentially expect quite a few
opportunities elsewhere, whether it be the media or whatever.
There was even talk about things like Strictly or I'm A
Celebrity, although I was never fully convinced by those.

Thank you greeny. The only retiring ref I was not aware of was
Anthony Coggins whose last game was Plymouth v Burton in October
2021. A last game so early in the season suggests a serious
injury or other cause for retirement. I will add Anthony to my
database of Final Games. I remember seeing Karl Evans in the
Championship at Selhurst Park when he was a FL referee. He
stepped down to AR duties as long ago as 2011/12 for unknown
reasons, and it is good that he has been able to continue his
involvement with top flight football for so long. I wish the
retirees all the best for the future.

Ten (if I can count correctly) leaving the leagues covering PL
to League Two is the highest I can recall. I’m sure that
someone will have the stats on that.

Nemesis has certainly seen a lot of Kettle over the last ten or
so years….

Kettle watchers, I include myself, have been pursuing this
particular hobby for almost 20 years....and quite frankly it has
often seemed longer than that !
