ICELAND - ALBANIA
Referee:Craig Pawson (ENG)
Assistant Referee 1: Lee Betts (ENG)
Assistant Referee 2: Harry Lennard (ENG)
Fourth Official: John Brooks (ENG)
Video Assistant Referee:
Assistant Video Assistant Referee:
UEFA Referee Observer: Juan Antonio Fernández Marín (ESP)
UEFA Delegate: Styrbjörn Oskarsson (FIN)
UEFA Referee Liaison Officer: Pétur Sigurđsson (ISL)

Happy for Craig and he certainly deserves appointments, BUT how
stupid is the scheduling? He's in Croatia as 4O to Kav, so he
has stupid o'clock time fight back to the UK tomorrow, after
little to no sleep post match, then the drive home, unless he
stays in a hotel by the airport, ready for his silly o'clock
time flight to Iceland the day after. Completely disrupted
sleep, lot of travelling, sitting around at airports, mealtimes
all over the show - that is not conducive to good match
preparation.

Stupid scheduling. There are plenty of other English officials
who could have been 40 to Chris Kavanagh. Paul Tierney has not
been appointed, perhaps he is having some time off after a
difficult season. Marriner or Jones or England who also has not
been appointed actually.

A busy night with the cards for Michael Oliver in Spain…
[/quote]
Just caught up with this. 3 YCs for Spain and 5 for Portugal
apparently. A few references to the game on the Law 5 forum.
One mentioned an intense 3 minutes for Oliver which saw 3 YCS
but all correct. Probably the same poster commented at the end
it was a very good performance by Oliver in what reports said
was an exciting game. Don't know if anyone else watched the
game.
Interesting that both Oliver and Taylor had adjacent country
'derbies' with Taylor on Norway-Sweden.

Unfortunately I watched Northern Ireland v Greece and the trauma
is very real! Team ref were fine but the GAWA - sheesh!

So after all the faff they have to do post match - bed at 1am,
up again at 1.45am for the 2.5 hour drive to Zagreb, boarded the
flight to Amsterdam about 5am, 2 hour wait there in between
flights - back to the UK around 11am and then the drive home.
Leaves again for the airport at 3am on Sunday.... That is
disgraceful UEFA...

That's horrendous, Darren England and Paul Tierney haven't been
used, they surely could have used either of them

Tierney may be given some time off after a difficult season.
England perhaps is ill or injured or something. Could just be
having a break.

More likely a break. They don't get much family time as it is.
