Glad he is getting a match in Matchweek 4, fully deserved and
getting top matches as well.
Darren England, assisted by James Mainwaring and Wade Smith,
referees the youth league version of this fixture, on the same
day.

Is it usual for a referee to be appointed to a Sunday league
game and then a Tuesday CL game? It wouldn't happen for a club.
Oliver is due to referee Arsenal V Liverpool today I believe.

FIFA won’t be happy. They have said referees should not be
getting games every 3rd match day or less. Other Federations are
complying with this but yet again the PL think they’re special
and ignore it completely. He literally just falls outside the
UEFA min 48hrs between games. Disgraceful by the PGMOL. They
would have known about the CL game 10 days ago.

Have there been other instances of it happening? It's not
something I really remember coming across before which is why it
stood out to me. Is it possible the PSG appointment was a late
change?

Hopefully when Webb takes over, we stamp this nonsense out and
start treating our officials better, and in line with what the
rest of Europe are doing. Its not as if Oliver was the only ref
who could do Arsenal V Liverpool. Hopefully he gets a rest next
weekend.

Has it happened before in PL? I remember Lee Probert replacing
Martin Atkinson on a Chelsea V Liverpool game around 10 years
ago because Atkinson got a Tues CL appointment. I don't recall
other instances of it happening but I might just not have
noticed.
