Adam Herczeg - Wrexham v Grimsby
DIR By: Observeref8

Half Time 45 minutes in - Unfortunately a poor half for Adam,
you cannot go into a Play Off Semi Final with a mindset of being
low key, it doesn’t seem accepted by players and all it has lead
to is numerous players swarming around him on 4 occasions, with
no player receiving a card for this, he is just waving his arms
at them, it needs a strong whistle to tell them to back off, or
a card simple.
Penalty to Wrexham very soft, probably was not, but some may of
given it, but then consistency was lacking as 10 minutes later a
Wrexham player was absolutely Poll axed by the goalkeeper,
nothing given. Positioning has not been great first 45, has got
in the way on a few occasions.
Positive - All 4 yellows spot on.
Adam needs to raise his game in the 2nd half, and lower the
tolerance level.

Unfortunately I missed the match which ended up as a 5-4 win to
Grimsby.
From the reports I have seen in addition to the penalty Mr
Herczeg missed a blatant handball for a Wrexham goal. Although
that didn’t save him from Phil Parkinson criticising him even
though his side conceded five goals. I wonder what today’s
match does for his promotion prospects ?

Hardly blatant ..... it took the TV people about 10 minutes to
find an angle that showed it clearly.
I turned on at half-time and I would never have guessed he'd had
a torrid first half, if indeed he did.
Allowed plenty of physical contact and the 75 minutes I saw, I
thought he was quite reasonable. Liked the improvised use of his
spray can to keep the Wrexham defender an appropriate distance
from the long throw.

Unlikely to be as bad as what it does for Wrexham's !

Well Simon Mather was absolutely abysmal in last year's final
and was promoted on the back of that so it might suggest Adam
will be just fine .

Good to hear. If TV took that long to show an incident such as
that perhaps even VAR wouldn’t have recommended a review.

Overall Adam will probably review the whole game, and re watch
and prob feel disappointed.
I feel the moments match control was lost was within in the
first 15 where he allowed Grimsby to make 2 really late high
Ariel tackles with elbows leading which all he did was warn the
offending player, an early strong yellow would of shown
strength, and maybe would of got the players onside.
But overall Officiating in the first half was weak, KMI I felt
in the 1st were incorrect, for me the Pen to Wrexham was not a
pen, very very soft, but as given he needed to of given the 2nd,
which was when the Wrexham player was poll axed by the GK, was a
clear pen. Numerous players in the first half were surrounding
him.
2nd half not a lot to do, as football did the talking, loads of
goals, and the players got on with it, to his Credit Adam
allowed the 2nd half to flow, and didn’t need to reach for the
card.
Extra time was typical ET with both clubs attempting to win the
game, Adam had to caution Phil Parkinson for dissent, And 2
other players went on the card to - so overall 7 yellows.
Just on this game alone I don’t think Adam is ready for the jump
to FL but obviously I have not seen him over the course of the
season, but his game plan of a low key approach really didn’t
work out, and tbf the players didn’t seem to like this
especially in the first half.

I understood from another RTR thread that the promotions had
already been decided (not announced but the officials concerned
have been told). If so, yesterday's match won't make any
difference either way, I assume.

Prospects for promotion are assessed on their performance over a
whole season, not just one game.

Spot on - I can't see Liverpool selling any of their start
players just because they had a poor game yesterday!
