The handball penalty appeal should be a clear hand ball but the
rule is terrible and they got it right no penalty

He's been chucked under the bus by John Brooks on VAR. The
handling by a Villa player was almost identical to what Ashley
Barnes was penalised for at Spurs, yet an entirely different
outcome. And I think he should have been given the option to
have another look at the red card challenge by Lowton, it was
very low and the trailing leg took out the opponent.

I didn't see all the game but I thought the red card for the
Burnley player near the end of the game was harsh. Contact
looked low on the Villa player's foot and I'm not sure it ticked
the box for endangering an opponent with excessive force. There
have been a lot worse challenges this season imo that have only
been sanctioned with a YC. VAR seem to take a long time before
deciding there wasn't enough evidence to advise an OFR but it
perhaps indicated he wasn't convinced.
The VAR review for a possible Burnley penalty for handball again
took time and I was thinking it could be an OFR for that
incident as well.

You may think I’m being harsh, but to me VAR is a long way off
being the genuine finished article , rather worrying that the
current SG1 on VAR duty have probably made more wrong /none
calls combined than Lee Mason in his own this season the
handball shout was poor given the call against Ashley Barnes the
other day

It must’ve been my poor eyesight but the potential handball for
Burnley looked to hit the Villa player on the left side of the
chest. For me this is a non-argument.

No problem for me. Harsh red card, penalty for handball was
exactly the same as the one given against Burnley on Sunday.
Three offsides not given which resulted in Villa corners, same
AR gave a corner for a ball put out by the Villa player.
Watkins fell over himself when running for a ball with Long of
Burnley, free kick awarded and Long received a caution.
Foul throw leading to the Villa goal not given --his foot was
about one foot onto the pitch1
One Villa player kicks another one accidentally ----result
---free kick to Villa.
Luiz kicks the crap out of Roberts after he had been fouled by
Digne ---no caution. All is fair in the PL unless
................
Burnley had not had a player dismissed for well over 100 games
until March this year. Paul Tierney has managed to dismiss two
in the last eight weeks.
I really am getting fed up of football at the top level. VAR was
supposedly going to give a fairer deal, however, I don't think
that this has proved to be the case.
I just hope that The Championship manages to stave it off for a
bit longer!

That is the convincing argument that the Villa player was
putting forward, his chest, his shoulder ---in fact, after
watching his histrionics, I am convinced that he was 20 yards
away from the ball.

Ashley Barnes elbows Mings in the face which wasn’t even
checked- as quoted by the commentators
A soft penalty given (2 in 2 for Tierney)
What looks like a clear penalty for handball with current rules
not given
A very harsh red card, it’s never a red in a millions years
Poor night for officials especially John Brooks who missed an
offside in the build up to a goal last week, you have to wonder
was he watching the villa game or was he actually laughing at
Everton fans celebrating staying up? Or more simply watching
Coronation street like his colleagues do occasionally 😉

Watching the game in the stadium, not too far from the main
camera position and commentary gantry, i said to my friends
close by straight red before Tierney pulled it out, maybe
because i saw him going to his top pocket.
From a distance it looked a nasty challenge, overstretching.
The handball i couldnt see clearly from my position, i was too
far away and blocked by players.
Having watched the highlights on returning home, my thoughts are
seen them given.
No problems with penalty given, clear foul by buendia right in
front of me, he knew what he had done by his reaction.
Forearm smash earlyish on Barnes on Mings went unpunished,
should have been checked if cameras picked it up as it was off
the ball. Petulant kick out on Roberts by Luiz goes unpunished.
My overall reaction to Tierney performance was very mixed, a
little inconsistent and certainly as a villa fan can say we
definately got the rub of the green on decisions.
As for the game Villa should have won the chances they had, but
the devine intervention of Pope saved Burnley a point.
There were four or five magnificent saves.
Burnley squandered a chance to win it near the end when Weghorst
should have scored.
Result follows a pattern where Villa when trying to do the
double over teams usually end drawing the second game.
On reflection having seen highLights i think the Ayew foul was
far worse than that of Lowton.
I find it scary how our top sg1 officials struggle to detect SFP
correctly and the same can be said of var who seem to be scared
to send a top referee to the monitor.
