Congratulations to all selected. i did pick both English
referees in an earlier post and yes there are some surprises.
Well done to the Australian Officials and our adopted Aussie A
Faghani who is going to represent t Iran
Can I just take a moment to recognise Tevita Makasini Assistant
Rerferee from Tonga who will be going to his 4th straight World
Cup finals. 2010 with M Hester NZ 2014 O’Leary NZ 2018 and 2022
Conger NZ. I am sure in the years to come this will be a trivia
question amongst referees. An amazing achievement considering
the level of football he officiates week in and week out.
Again well done to all those who were selected and
commiserations to those who missed out.

This board annoys the utter **** out of me at times. The second
post on here was negative and continues with well VAR is crap in
England, and a big handful of posts about xy and z. Or they dont
deserve it cos they wear yellow shirts... seriously.
I speak for nearly everyone on this board when deep down I bet
they wish they achieved the opportunity these Gents and Ladies
have been awarded the best accolade in their careers. Why cant
members of this board and as members of the refereeing family
for once be human and sit back and go well done everyone and
pass on their congratulations.
Be proud rather than fuelled with cynicism and conspiracy.
So congrats to everyone - especially 6 counterparts from England
- the most in recent times for one World Cup and Stephanie for
breaking the barrier and making history.

Agree with that but the yellow shirt bit it’s just a joke,
obviously it doesn’t really matter what colour kit they wear

Fully deserved appointments for Oliver and Kovacs. Glad they got
the call up as it wasn’t always clear they would. Kovacs is
undoubtedly there on merit and while I accept bmb’s point on
Hategan we must accept that he missed out on a number of games
he could have officiated due to health problems and who knows
how they would have boosted his chances or indeed hurt them. I
actually rate both Romanians as among Europes finest and worthy
of a place so I’m sure a bittersweet day for Hategan.
I also have huge sympathy for Cakir and Karasev who themselves
did nothing wrong but lost their places due to actions totally
beyond their control.
Also glad that Janny Sikazwe was selected after his issues at
AFCON. If it was a genuine medical issue and there is no
evidence to say otherwise then I’m delighted FIFA didn’t punish
him.
In general I share the same bad feelings about this WC as others
on here but regardless congratulations to all selected on
reaching the pinnacle of officiating.

I'd not mentioned yellow shirts once on this thread!! That is
just a very long standing joke due to my utter hatred of yellow.
I agree with the rest though and I find it very frustrating.
Someone gets a big cup or playoff appointment and there are
immediately a whole heap of posts saying they aren't good
enough, it should have gone to someone else blah bah with a few
posts actually saying congratulations - good luck. It
disappoints me every time. Add in the whole 'top ref' stuff as
well, I mentioned that one a couple of weeks ago saying we
should all celebrate having 2 outstanding top refs instead of
trying to find faults with the (on here at least) less popular
one just to try and justify the other being their choice. As the
selections show they are both considered in the top 36 referees
in the world by those who matter, the FIFA referee committee and
the UEFA referee committee so get behind both of them & show
them support.

Those who know the pairings better, which refs have no ARs or 1
AR? As 36 x 2 would be 72 not 69
[/quote]
Stephanie Frappart (FRA), Yoshimi Yamashita (JPN) & Salima
Mukansanga (RWA) have no AR's listed. Neuza Back (BRA), Karen
Diaz (MEX) and Kathryn Nesbitt (USA) are lone ARs. So the 6

person team.

Will this be Orsato's final international tournament before the
new list is updated in June/July?
Would like to see the final go to someone from somewhere other
than UEFA or CONEMBOL. What odds on the Santos guy from South
Africa being awarded it, was very good in the Africa Cup of
Nations!
