Congratulations to all officials involved. I was wondering how
good an indicator these are as to promotion? Particularly the
assistants on the trophy final to SG1 and Barrott plus
assistants to SG2?
As for the youth cup final, last season the ref was promoted to
SG1 and the fourth official to the national list. Could we see
this happen again I wonder 🤔

josh smith won't go the SG1 surely? Perhaps they should give the
old newboys some games first before promoting more to SG1

Well with Mike dean retiring, it would certainly make sense to
promote someone.

Gillett, Brooks, Harrington and Salisbury can share them around
although they will likely promote at least one

I did think similar, Jack, about not promoting anyone and
allowing the 4 promotees from this year to share the additional
games around. However, more recently, I have started to think
that if this is the way they will treat the newly promoted,
surely it's better to promote them earlier and give them longer
to grow into the PL. What would be the point of another season
in SG2 only to then get promoted and referee a handful og SG1
games?

I think they promote them more to give them exposure to the SG1
group, training sessions, etc, rather than to actually give them
EPL games. They will promote someone to replace Mike Dean, but
that doesn't mean that person will referee 10 EPL games next
season, rather will probably just get one and spend the rest of
the time back in the Championship.

Great occasion for both to visit the lovely Channel Islands.
Hope they allow themselves plenty of time to get there if
travelling by the less than reliable Condor Ferries!
