Preliminary List of FIFA World Cup 2022 Referees (To be cut down
further around a month before the tournament starts) has started
to be released

So István has been removed but Hategan who is out for a minimum
of 6 months is still on it along with Karesev who falls under
the ban on Russian sports people?

Surprised with Uefa’s selections especially no Kovacs even more
so with Hategan’s health problems. Also surprised to see Cakir
on the list especially after his disgraceful treatment by
Ceferin. Also Bastien being on there surprises me as thought he
was 1st group not elite. Also any idea how many of the refs on
this list won’t actually go to the WC?

Both Karasev and Cakir need to get back to reffing if they have
any chance to be selected.
Jovanivic would surprise me, as would Bastien.
The Spanish "situation" is interesting as I read that as 1
certain place and possibly a 2nd, otherwise no point having 3
names for 1 place.
Both Taylor and Oliver must have good chances of selection when
you look at the experience of the others.
