You say he had a diabolical performance, but for all you know
the observer could have given him 8.5.

making small talk with a stranger and they asked where he was
from, he wouldn’t say Freckleton, he’d say Preston. There’s
absolutely no doubt the majority of Leigh’s acquaintances in his
area would be Preston fans. It’s just totally unnecessary
scheduling, and IMHO vastly unfair on Leigh.

was 0-0 going into injury time and there was a collision in the
opposition penalty area that could go either way, I find it hard
to believe that in the back of Leigh’s mind he wouldn’t
subconsciously wonder whether he’d be opening himself up to
accusations of bias should he award them a dubious pen.
Genuinely believe it’s very unfair on Leigh, also arguably
unfair on Preston.

Freckleton is equally only a 20 minute drive from Blackpool
I do agree that appointing them is unfair on themselves. Then
again we see it in the premier league and it doesn't really
affect much.

Having lived in the area in the past, I have to say I'm with you
on this one Craven. If Freckleton had been in the FY (Blackpool
/ Lytham St Anne's) postcode area, I would not have had a
problem, but it's in fact in the PR4 (Preston) postcode area.
Very strange appointment in my view.

Let's hope he doesn't end the game after awarding AFCB a free
kick in a very advantageous position with Boro leading 2-1!
Quite bizarre and a decision which you wouldn't expect a park
ref to make [emoji15]
Edit - got this post in the blue zone. Sorry, senior moment.
Edited to fix quote thingamajigga! bmb [emoji8]

Again I reiterate, where you live or what your postcode is has
NO involvement in the appointing process any more.

Hi Rustyref, I was aware that what you rightly say are the rules
these days. Crazy rules IMHO, but the rules all the same. My
gripe is the unnecessary pressure this places on the ref.
Obviously Leigh has declared his allegiances, and is not a
Preston fan, but all the same he lives there. For me it’s all a
total nonsense and the authorities are making a rod for their
own back

I worked for BAE Systems and it’s forerunners for many years and
regularly travelled between Preston Strand Road and Warton. If
anyone has ever made that journey in 15 minutes, I’d like to
know what they had in their petrol tank

Doowe old chap, I’m not at all familiar with that area, being a
Southern Softy and all that. My only source of information was
AA Route Planner. I entered Freckleton town centre to Preston
city centre, and the wizardry kindly informed me that it was a
7.3 mile drive which takes 15 mins. Via Preston New Road A584
and then A583 if you’re interested. I reckon the best course of
action here is for you to give the AA a buzz and let them know
they’ve made a mistake 😉

So here we have what began as a nice little post on SG2
appointments this coming weekend which seems to have morphed
into a geographical debate on the location of post codes in
central Lancashire. Can I return us to planet earth by
expressing worry that Langford and Ward seem to be picking up
matches again but also good to see Linington on another top
match.
