And Cheshire FA it appears to be. Taylor is a County Palatine
man.

That would explain why he's never seen at Gresty Road these
days. I knew there must be a reason. ;)

If they are a different nationality to the Federation they are
employed by then they are not allowed to referee either nation.
István was born in Romania but is ethnic Hungarian and holds
dual nationality so he can’t referee Romania or Hungary. If
Gillet does make it back to the FIFA list as a now English
official then he will not be allowed to referee England or
Australia in any competitive match.

Unlike FIFA compatriot Michael Oliver who refereed a NI
international at Gresty Road in May 2015. We're hoping Anthony
may do the Cheshire derby v Macclesfield in a few seasons time!

How many times does the same thing need to be said, it comes up
every single time Taylor gets a Manchester team, certainly when
it is in a big game? Your postcode is now 100% irrelevant to
the appointing process, it is purely based on who you support.
And quite rightly as people don't just support their local clubs
as used to be more the case, they often support clubs nowhere
near where they currently live.
Have to agree on the local clubs thing, i support a team 130
miles from where i live and have never
Moved from my county. Some people move for their job and still
support the team whete they used to live, i think mr moss and mr
friend are examples of this.
And Mark Halsey before them, lived in Bolton but supported QPR.
If i remember correctly Halsey was from welwyn garden city when
he reached football league and moved to bolton during his top
flight career.
Jon moss is from Sunderland, he moved to west yorks, probably in
the days he was in the teaching profession.
Howard Taylor was from oadby, leics but toward the end of his
refereeing career moved to york.
I am sure there are many more, probably more from the days prior
to sg1 and sg2 ie professional referees.

Jon Moss moved to Leeds to study and then stayed there when he
started teaching. We attended the same college, albeit a few
years apart, which I told him at Spotland once.

What may be more pertinent to this discussion is that,
considering there are Manchester United fans in every corner of
the globe, I can’t recall any sg1 referee who has debarred
himself from refereeing at OT by declaring an allegiance to the
club

I wonder if that is partially down to them going into refereeing
so young, they may had the passion for football but more for
playing and not watching. A lot of them seem to have grown up
watching their local non league games, maybe they had family
connections to them?

There are also a significant number from Yorkshire, so if they
want to avoid being disowned by their families supporting Man
Utd really isn't an option 😂
