Linesmen: Match programme = J. Poucher and W. Clarke
J. Poucher is Jack Poucher but does anyone known the forename
for W. Clarke?

Oliver Donnelly

Tributes today poured in for former FIFA referee Oliver
Donnelly, who died while officiating at a charity game in Newry
last night.
He collapsed on the pitch in the 28th minute at the Newry
Showgrounds
during a match between two local hotels to raise money for the
Northern Ireland Hospice.
He was 60 and regarded as one of the most charismatic referees
the province has ever had.
He took charge of numerous internationals and European ties
abroad and all the big games at home
and was in the middle for George Best's testimonial at Windsor
Park in 1988.
Famously Oliver, also well known in bowling circles, sent off
Joe Jordan during a Scotland v Wales home international.
He retired from senior refereeing in 1986 before having a short
spell as a junior referees assessor.
He was also a referees instructor for the IFA and was a
Commercial Director at his hometown club Newry.
Newry boss Roy McCreadie once scored a hat-trick of penalties
for Portadown against Glentoran when Donnelly was refereeing.
He was also involved in the commercial side of Newry and did
much to promote Newry Town.
Jack Poucher was also from Newry and refereed Scotland v Wales
in 1984
Walter Clarke was from Newtonards
