I will really miss watching Mike Dean , yes he is flamboyant,
but as long as he does his job which he has done in the PL for
22 years then I see no problem , personally I like to see
referees with personality like Mike Dean rather than the “
manufactured robotic “ types that seem to grace the premier
league now under Riley

I'm a massive fan of Mike Dean and will miss him refereeing.
Over his career, and certainly over the last 10 years, I doubt
there are many referees that have made less incorrect KMIs than
him, whatever people think about his flambouyancy, and perceived
arrogance, he gets a very high percentage of big decisions
correct.
I don't know him, but he doesn't strike me in any way as an
establishment man. Will he tow the line as a dedicated VAR,
will he move into the media (which I think he will be great at),
or will he move away from football altogether and instead focus
on his other love of golf? Only he knows, but he has certainly
had an amazing refereeing career.

I suppose that it ages me now to say that I was present to
witness his first PL red card for a Nolberto Solano handball on
the goaline at Portman Road in April 2001. I was also present
earlier that season to see him march out an advancement of a
Manchester City free kick ten yards (anyone remember that ?)
into the penalty area following a show of dissent at Maine Road.
These just remind me that he has been refereeing top flight for
many years and you can only do that by being a top official.

Pretty much zero credibility, given this is the man that
complained that Clive Oliver was too old for that level after he
had refereed his Crystal Palace team. Then a couple of weeks
later his son, Michael, refereed Palace and he decreed that he
was too young for that level. (Edited to remove personal abuse)

I'd be very surprised if he got a game with "something on it".
Refs who retire tend to get low profile games. It depends on how
the season pans out, but I'll bet that he'll get Leicester v
Southampton.

Over the past 3 or 4 seasons the retiring refs have finished the
weekend prior to the final one, maybe Dean will be an exception

As i stated earlier in the thread i think that was his first
game in the premier league, so to sign off
Where he started would be a good send off for him, albeit at a
different ground in leicester.
