. Why??? Are league one or two clubs not entitled to correct
decisions???????
They are but that's what happens when a ref has a bad week isn't
it? They get dropped down a League? He might even be dropped
full stop but the more likely option is the former
No, it isn't what happens and is extremely ignorant and
disrespectful to players and fans of League 1/2 clubs.

No, that is just the press being lazy, and usually when they
report that a referee has been dropped the appointment was made
before the decision he was allegedly dropped for.

Agree. All SG2 referees are contracted to referee in
Championship, L1 & L2, all SG1 refs are contracted to referee
all 4 divisions. Just because their primary role is PL or
Championship they do not get dropped to lower leagues, they
fulfil their contractual obligations to referee in those
divisions.

Sorry - and don't want to cause a row - but you stated it as
fact rather than an opinion.

Whilst that's true, and the word 'dropped' is obviously a bit
sensationalist, how many Championship, League 1 or League 2
games have Michael Oliver or Anthony Taylor refereed this
season? I think it is fair to say, in general, that the SG1
referees considered to be the best generally do the most PL
games and the SG2 referees generally considered to be under
consideration for promotion often do most Championship games.
In general though I think the perception of a referee being
'dropped' after a poor performance doesn't occur as often now as
it did 10-15 years ago.

Just watched this. I think the very fact that there was some
hesitation before he made the decision tells its own story.
He's either guessed based on what he thinks that he has seen,
with not having the best view or someone (over the comms!?) has
provided him with an opinion which he has acted on?
