My only complaint with that was when he got it calmed down the
first time & that idiot came storming in and got involved
starting it up again was that idiot not getting booked as well.
Excellent performance from him and his team.

I agree but he was consistent , he could have booked both Elliot
and Rudiger or none he chose the latter with a warning to both

Good performance by Stuart Attwell (and excellent ARs)! Sure, he
got a bit fortunate in the 1H as I described, and some other
incidents weren’t solved optimally (missed caution to Keita,
freekick from which Liverpool scored was too soft according to
his tolerance line), but that shouldn’t really count to much
against him.
A (very) positive impression overall - the praise from Sky
showing of that - well done!
(his dealing with Rudiger in the ET scene was simply superb! :))

Excellent performance by Stuart Attwell, and his performance
contributed to a really entertaining game.

Interesting that in an interview just now Virgil Van Djik
admitted he doesn’t understand Law 11. If one of (if not the
best) defenders in the world doesn’t understand it why should we
be surprised when we go out on a Saturday afternoon and the
players we deal with don’t know?
I thought Atwell and his team did very well. Missed the
Azpilicuetta yellow and Keita could also have been cautioned
although I understand how he didn’t see that.
Fairytale stuff for the Liverpool goalie but it’s not the first
time the Chelsea goalie has come unstuck on penalties.

Was he not saying that he does not understand the interpretation
of Law 11 at the elite level? Had he been playing at any other
level in England I am sure that he would be quite happy with the
interpretation of the Law when offside is flagged and the
referee either gives the decision or plays on.
His observation is totally correct and means that needless
challenges are made when the ball should be dead.
I don't think that they will change anything so, Virgil, just
get on with it and keep scratching your head!

Excellent performance from Attwell, fully justified his
appointment.
Let the game flow, stepped in where needed, managed the game
well.
Hope after this performance he goes on to follow in the
footsteps of alan wiley ie getting both cup finals in the same
season, however think Pawson may be ahead in that race.
Correct decision to give offside against Van Dijk and being sent
to the screen to confirm Van Dijk had impeded the defender
whilst in the offside position.
Minor criticism was Rudiger and probably Elliot should have seen
yellow at the end of first half of extra time.
Penalty shoot out, i was pleased when the chelsea keeper blazed
over the bar, served him right for his antics before Each
liverpool penalty. I really wish referees would sanction heavily
the actions of goalkeepers gamesmanship at penalty kicks, both
during normal play and in shoot outs.
Overall well done Mr Attwell, his assistants and var.

I would hazard a guess that if var wasnt in use the goal would
stood.

I agree Stuart Attwell and his team did exceptionally well today
in an exciting game to watch. Not many 0-0 games are that
enthralling.
Minor blemishes for the YCs that could/should have been issued,
including Elliot and Rudiger, that other posters have referred
to.
I must say that I was very impressed with Attwell and I felt his
game control and player management have really developed. It
was, to be totally honest, a better performance than I was
expecting and showed he is more than capable of taking on the
big games.

An entertaining game by two sides who wanted to play football
and were allowed to. I am not sure that there are blemishes for
cards being issued or not being issued - it was part of Atwell's
approach to the game. Let it flow and clamp down only on serious
incidents or acts of blatant cheating, recognising that emotions
are high which generally and commendably were kept under control
by the players.
A cup much maligned at times but which produced a final worthy
of the name and stadium and which held my interest to the end
and as this is a referee's forum, well done to the team led ably
by Atwell.

A high pressure cup final that was well officiated.
Well done Mr Attwell and team.
