       S A HOOPER - Southampton v Norwich

Excellent once again from Hooper. Has gone about his business
with minimal fuss and has got everything that he’s had to do
       correct.
Has played some excellent advantages too.
He’s on a good run at the moment. Let’s hope it continues.

Agree Hooper again with an excellent performance, will probably
be rewarded with a couple of weeks
Away from the middle in the premier league by pgmol management.
Hooper def impressing this season and pleased for him.

Another excellent performance from Simon Hooper.
Random fact, noticed that he used the ‘yellow book’ that A&H
used to supply instead of a standard card. Not seen one of
those in action for 15+ years!

Some referees sparkle and shine upon receiving promotion; others
are slow burners. It appears Hooper is in the latter category. I
am pleased for him that he now appears to be establishing
himself at SG1 level. Whether he remains a 'Graham Scott' type
of member of that Group or ascends up the pecking order, we
shall have to wait and see. It would be good if the Appointing
Authorities rewarded him with a match involving more high
       profile teams quite soon.

I guess that book he uses has multiple sheets of paper inside or
is it just one of two that are slid in as required?
I’ve not seen those old books around and are not familiar with
       their internal components!

I think Simon Hooper is already picking up more appointments
than Graham Scott , infact I would say he has probably picked up
more PL middle appointments this season than he’s had in any of
       his previous seasons .

If it is the one I used to use, there was a double page for each
game, with room for all the necessary information. The first
"leaf" would reveal a double sided yellow card to show and the
last "leaf" had the same thing but in red. Maybe he bought a
       job lot many years ago!

If it’s what I’m thinking of then off top of my head there was
only PL referee who I recall using it and that was Stephen Lodge

Its not the one like the Steve Lodge notebook.
The one Hooper was using is just a standard match wallet, but
it’s made of yellow plastic instead of standard black. The
inside has sleeves to tuck match cards or paper under.

There is a link here of Lodge issuing a red with his book during
       a Merseyside Derby…
       Hope this helps.
Also a glimpse of Mike Riley with his circle red card
