Matthew Donohue Sheffield United v Blackburn

       Excellent red card.
Very good penalty decision even though the keeper was off his
       line when he saved it.
This is proving quite a test for him with the temperature of the
game getting hotter by the minute.
       Compulsive viewing.
What an exciting finish with a very late winner. I thought he
started the game less than confidently, but got better as it
heated up. At the end of it all I thought Matthew did a very
good job in a hostile environment.

Interesting game and terrific ending. I can well imagine
feelings being high and emotions exploding amongst the home
supporters. Mr Donohue did very well imho and the red card
nailed on. Penalty should have been retaken but I would not
expect such a close decision to be given without VAR (keeper
came off his line just as the kick was being taken).

       Is this a joke post?
He was atrocious from minute one to minute 95.
Whether you agree or not with his key decisions ( I don’t, they
were blatantly wrong in my opinion ) his game management was
       pathetic.

How can you not agree with the red card?! The commentator was
unsure at first, but even he agreed the referee had no choice!
Looks as though you have your “Blade” blinkers on….

Like I said, it’s irrelevant whether you agree with the “big
decisions” or not. I can see why it was given.
It’s everything else. The game management, player management,
the little fouls, the knowing when to let things go, the throw
ins and goal kicks, the management of people’s attitudes, the
keeping your cool under pressure, 99.9% of the game.
And it was all atrocious. Yet again. Every time I’ve seen him
live it has been the case.

Well it’s all about opinions , my opinion was Donohue was
excellent remained calm and in control throughout both the
penalty and Red Card decisions were spot on the latter was dealt
with superbly amid the mini scuffle he doesn’t have the best
running style similar to Rob Jones but he gets the job done

"I can see why it was given" which is a complete contradiction
to "they were blatantly wrong in my opinion" in your previous
       post!
       No way - really??!!
Was it perhaps the straight leg, studs first, over the top
challenge with no attempt to play the ball, made at pace
(excessive force) that endangered the safety of the opponent?
If you are going to try and assess the performance of a referee
       - particularly one involving a side you support - I would
suggest if you want any shred of credibility, you realise that a
referees core responsibility is the safety of the players. He
did that with the red card - no question.
I did think some of his decision making was a tad erratic at
times and there was one caution in particular for a United
player I didn't even think a foul, but.... on an evening when
the players made it extremely difficult for him, he got the big
       decisions correct in my opinion.
Your crass comments do neither the referee or indeed yourself
       any favours......

I watched the highlights, and wow what a game. Matt Donohue
didn't seem to be out of control during the highlights. Perfect
positioning for the penalty call, did not rush it and took his
time to think but good decision.
Red card is a no brainer and was a horrific challenge.

I’ve really liked Donohue when I’ve seen him. I watched the
highlights of this game and without doubt he got the two big
calls spot on. Another thing I like about him is that he most
certainly doesn’t get intimidated by fervent home crowds. He’ll
stand firm and give exactly what he sees. I’ve noticed that on
quite a few occasions this season, and that’s an excellent trait
       in a referee.
Good luck to him, a really decent ref IMHO
