       The issue is that if, as an ex ref, you wish to remain within
       the refereeing fraternity assessing/coaching etc you are not
       going to go on national tv or write articles in national press
       criticising referees.
       If you are outside of that you have to write/say stuff that will
       sell or get attention, otherwise you get dropped for someone who
       will.
