possibly be the biggest game of the round other than

Do the powers that be really consider him worthy of a 4th round
tie or has the competition been devalued so much that even a
dire ref like him can get an appointment?

Simpson gets a difficult local derby, how the appointments
people are able to justify seems difficult to understand after
recent performances.
Taylor doesnt have far to travel for his game.
Gillett with a good appointment.
Tierney with another plum tie after recent unconvincing.
With some of these appointments it is surprising ward has not
been rewarded after his display at huddersfield of recent.

I'm not sure it's much of a reward for an SG2 referee. I believe
the appointing powers for the FA Cup are different to those for
the Championship and League. It wouldn't in the least surprise
me if there is no joined up thinking between them.

A little confusing to see Simpson on the Yorkshire derby, as it
could get a little heated. I would’ve preferred a lesser-used PL
ref, maybe Robert Jones on this fixture but it is just my
opinion.

My maths works out that 12 of the 16 are SG1. Why not all 16? I
really don't think FO appointments are that meaningful. However,
the VAR appointments are meaningful - & I bet that, after this
weekend, VAR will be a hot topic. Not so much the games which
have VAR but, actually, the games which don't have VAR. Fingers
crossed I'm wrong of course!
