Not a good day for football

An AR hit by an object thrown from Rotherham end at Crewe,
racism towards Regan Charles-Cook at Ross County, sexist
chanting towards a female fan at Rochdale, vile chants towards
Adebayo Akinfenwa, a seat ripped out and chucked onto the pitch
by West Brom fans at Millwall, flares on the pitch at three
games at least. Goodness only knows what went on at grassroots
level.
What a shameful day [emoji17]

become an unprecedented season for medical incidences in the
stand

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of a fellow
football fan. Also what a lovely and heartfelt tribute from the
Fulham chairman.

Oh my, what a tribute and fitting testimony. Not ashamed to say
this has got me in tears as well.....

I couldn't believe what I was hearing yesterday when watching
Soccer Saturday, though worth noting the racist abuse to the
Ross County player was on social media during the game, not
actually at the game itself. Either way it's disgusting.

Very sad indeed. However I am not so sure that it is an
unprecedented season for medical incidences in the stand. Over
the years I have witnessed this type of event several times
however the game has generally continued. We are now, rightly,
more sensitive to this type of emergency. However it becomes
more obvious when a game is delayed and is therefore reported
more widely.

What's going on in Rotherham? This week a 'fan' (I use the term
loosely) ran on the pitch and kicked the ball off of the penalty
spot

I've seen a lot of praise for Ross Joyce & his handling of it
all.

Not only did the miscreants in Rotherham kick the ball off the
penalty spot (there were two of them), they also tried to attack
the penalty taker. Sadly, they may feel that they succeeded in
something as the penalty was subsequently missed.

The Times this morning quotes Brendan Rodgers, "the rules of
society have changed. There's a total lack of respect. It's not
just in football, it's in life. People feeling entitled that
they can do things. We've seen it for the last couple of years.
You should come, support your team and, win, lose or draw, you
have respect".
And although Brendan perhaps wisely does not make direct
reference to it, I will state my view that the changes have
emanated from the top, and in view of what some of our leaders
appear to have got away with, it is hardly surprising that the
'total lack of respect' has drifted down into our nation's
favourite game. But that is just my view.
