Ahhhhhhhhh! Really???????
Pleased to have O'Keefe in Edinburgh, Damon Murphy had a good
Autumn so a solid run around for him in Rome
Adamson has got to prove himself in the Cardiff Cauldron
Raynal I like, so thats good.
In Paris you need a tough-skinned, experienced, well respected
official....Nigel has gone so we get Jaco 😶🙄

Glad to see Nika get a game, been impressed with him in European
games.
Match Day 2 belongs to the Aussies - interesting there is only 1
Kiwi involved
Otherwise a good spread of appointments.

Great to see debuts from Nika, Karl & Damon. Tbh I expected to
see Craig Evans with a debut too. Maybe Nika is ahead of Craig
in terms of a push for the WC.
Agree, the surprise is that only 1 Kiwi involved with an
abundance of Aussie's included. Williams potentially unavailable
and no sign of Pickerill either which is interesting.
No surprises for me that the big guns are out in R5 - I had
Jonker set for France v England and not complaining either!
Jonker (despite an error last time round) retains his role.
They are really pushing Mike Adamson (almost overkill) - so he
MUST be in for a real shout in France 23.
Judging by the NH appointments, you could look at the fact they
need the experience in the latter rounds with potential deciders
for Raynal & Barnes. By giving Carley & Dickson what on paper
looks to be a tougher matches (no disrespect to the other
teams), Pearce & Brace have pretty much cemented their places on
the list.
Not a bad set of appointments and nicely spread.

I can never keep track of what World Rugby's approach is for
TMOs - for a long time it looked like they were only using
retired refs (Skeen, Jonker, Hughes, Veldsman etc), then it
looked like they were moving towards using existing refs (I
remember Wayne Barnes and Luke Pearce doing it during the last
6N) - now it looks like a bit of a mix of both (Jonker and
Terheege but also Foley and Neville)

Seems Terheege is back in favour along with Jonker (not quite
sure how on the latter)
I think we are ending up with some refs acting as specialist
TMOs, similar to UEFA/FIFA have done.

Not sure either TBH. Kitt seems to be out of favour since RWC19.
Still think they will go with 4 again at the next showing with
Jonker & Gauzin looking like sure bets for me.

Clears up why the NZ officials aren't available. Don't really
get why O Keefe can make it then tbh.
Thirteen referees representing eight unions will take charge of
the Championship’s 15 matches
Georgia’s Nika Amashukeli, Australia’s Damon Murphy and
England’s Karl Dickson to make refereeing debuts
Wayne Barnes gets 98th test match, taking charge of Ireland
versus Scotland, his 16th Championship
Assistant referees Pierre Brousset, Tual Trainini (both France)
and Chris Busby (Ireland) make their Championship debuts
Television Match Officials, Stuart Terheege (England), Ben
Whitehouse (Wales) and Brett Cronan (Australia) will also make
their Championship debut in the role
Jaco Peyper (SA) and Scotland’s Mike Adamson are the only
referees to have two matches each with Peyper taking charge of
the opening and final matches of the Championship
Widest pool available for selection for two years, although
restrictions in New Zealand limits availability

Thought Ridley and Pearce might have been in the middle for at
least one of the rd games Dickson should have had more than the
1 appointment alongside barnes
Obviously with restrictions easing we are now able to invite the
sh refs
Not a bad set of appointments
