As mentioned on another thread, Dale Johnson has clarified the
rebound/save part does not mean the goalkeeper isn't in control
but allows the goalkeeper to handle the ball a second time
without being penalised - in other instances where the keeper
drops the ball they're not allowed to handle it again until
another player has touched the ball. It's not written very
clearly.
He's also pointed out that if it was interpreted the way you and
others are suggesting then any time a goalkeeper made a save,
even if holding the ball in both hands, he would not be deemed
to be in control of the ball and so could be challenged.

Having watched the game on Sky, I was surprised to see the stats
showing 8 fouls by Villa but 25 by Leicester. I can't say I was
conscious of that many by the away team but you'd probably
expect at least 1 player to be a candidate for PI on that count.
Perhaps it was a little bit feisty at times but the only bad
foul I recall was the cynical trip by Maddison near the end for
which he was rightly cautioned.

After 39 minutes the foul count was 1 against Villa and 11
against Leicester. Overall Lookman had 6 fouls given against
him, 5 in the first half, he was substituted on 65 minutes which
perhaps saved him from a yellow card.

I was surprised Michael Oliver didn't disallow the goal
immediately. It was clear to me on first viewing that the
goalkeeper had his hand on the ball. I was also disappointed
(but not surprised) that so few of the participants (players,
commentators and pundits) were not aware of the Law. For what
it's worth I think this is a good Law; kicking a ball when
someone's hand is on it is clearly potentially dangerous,
although in this case I would consider the challenge to be
careless (the goalkeeper got there very marginally quicker)
rather than reckless, so no card was necessary.
PS The time to complain about a Law that anyone doesn't like is
before an incident not afterwards. If everyone took the trouble
to read the Laws and prospective changes before they were
implemented they might end up being framed rather better than
some of them currently are.
