Agree (apart from I'm in 2 minds about VAR in general). Crowded
box, several bodies obscuring view and it was on his blindside
anyway. He doesn't have X-Ray vision, as far as I know anyway so
he had zero chance with it. His position was as expected so it
wasn't a case of him being in the wrong place and missing it.
AR had no chance either, the post would have been obscuring his
view along with all the players. Plus it was upper arm/shoulder
right on the borderline of it being hand ball or not. One of
those rare ones where they could have changed nothing to get it
right - themselves I mean, VAR would have caught it.

As a Fulham fan hope Parker will be treated with respect as it
was in the mutual interest of both parties to move on.Am
grateful for what he did but we move on.
Re ref for forthcoming match think Marriner would be ideal
choice although feel most SG2 refs have been much better this
season particularly Smith and Robinson.

Do we know of any discussions regarding possibly introducing VAR
into Championship? I suppose it will probably happen at some
point but it doesn't seem it will be imminent. Presumably lots
of logistical challenges regarding financing it and
finding/training enough officials.

Not sure it will happen as there are many logistical challenges.
They would need a lot more referees at that level, but also the
infrastructure would be a challenge. I'm pretty sure that
grounds with VAR need leased network lines put in back to
Stockley Park. Then you have where are the VARs and AVARs
actually going to go? I believe that there is space at VAR HQ
for 6 consecutive games, and that is fine at present as there
are never more than that number of games on at the same time.
Add in the Championship and you are looking at an extra 10 or 11
Saturday 3pm games, so it would need the facilities effectively
doubling.

In terms of infrastructure at clubs, those who have been
relegated still have the basic infrastructure in place. I recall
it being used at AFCB in probably a cup game, after they had
been relegated. Over the couple of years or so since
introduction that might apply to 5/6 clubs tops, leaving at
least 14 who would need to add it - that is a huge expense for
the respective clubs that don't yet have it & one many of them
would struggle to fund.
Agree entirely on the structure at Stockiey Park. I wonder if
they would consider buying the mobile units (like we use in
Hungary) as an alternative? Not sure how much they cost but I'm
sure it would be cheaper than building an extension to the
current set up. They'd probably need 5 and stagger games over 2
days.

I think there are 8 teams currently in the Championship who have
been in the Premier League since VAR was first introduced in FA
Cup in 2017/18. You'd probably expect that to increase over the
next 2-3 years. Given how widespread VAR is in club football
across the world, you'd think there should be a way to make it
work financially, even if done in a different way such as from
the ground instead of Stockley Park (incidentally, Stockley Park
managed to do 10 simultaneous games on final day of PL season,
presumably with some form of social distancing.)
I'd guess they'd need to use non-active officials as VARs if it
happened to help increase pool of officials.

On the "tackle" he does miss with the outstretched leg so yellow
is "supportable". To me its red as its more by luck than
judgement that he doesnt land 6 studs into his opponents ankle.
The goal is very unfortunate but should have been disallowed.
Elbow into keeper, off at least one arm and potentially offside
too.

I hope it isn't Marriner (sorry Gayle) as I've never felt we've
ever got the rub of the green when he's reffed us. It's about
time we had Michael Oliver, if only because we didn't have him
at all last season in the EPL, or otherwise from the the SG1,
Jarred Gillett would be great again
