Really interested to hear other people’s opinions on the red
card. I actually feel he is correct - Woods made the challenge
with unnecessary force IMO and is lucky he didn’t properly
connect with the Birmingham player.

I thought a red was justified. Had he produced a yellow it was
one of those incidents that you would have said “ that could
easily have been red”. On balance I think he was right.

I think clear yellow but imo red can't be justified

Absolutely no attempt to play the ball, clear red card for me.
He is just kicking an opponenent.

Ref card for SFP. A dangerous raking stud challenge on the
calf/achilles. Whether there’s enough contact is irrelevant.
Intent✅ Speed✅ Brutality✅

Nailed on red for me. Horrible, cynical, cowards challenge. Well
done to the ref for seeing it exactly how it was.

I’m fascinated by the responses above. Has there been a change
of interpretation in the law? I see the logic of SFP, but I
don’t think it was any more excessive than any other tackle.
How do you sell that as a decision? You’re almost making a rod
for your own back.

I understand the logic behind people saying this decision is
correct but it just can’t be a red card for me.
The contact is minimal at best and intent is no longer anywhere
near the laws of the game. If a yellow card is produced instead
for the reckless challenge then nobody bats an eyelid. Instead
he has stirred up debate about a non incident that wouldn’t even
be discussed otherwise.

Thinking back to the Euros, wasn't Harry Wilson dismissed
against Denmark for a similar tackle? If you watch the Woods one
back, there's more force/aggression in the tackle when comparing
the two.

He was - and there was consternation as a result for Siebert’s
decision.
