The SYC, both penalties for handling and the disallowed goal
were correct (interventions) IMO. The caution at the first
penalty was unnecessary though, and booking Abraham was a
complete neglection of common-sense.
(DISCLAIMER - I didn't watch this game in full :D). By the way -
Obrenovič is a very good referee. I watched him handle a
title-deciding match in Cyprus (where referees find bombs under
their mothers' cars and are regularly attacked and threatened)
and he was superb, in addition to a great performance in France
vs. England at the U17 EURO in 2019. He is one of the biggest
talents in European refereeing, in my estimation.
I don't think San Marino vs. England is the best material to
determine if a referee is talented or not, to be fair (and I'm
sure everyone here agrees!).

I thought the referee was actually good in a game that wasn't at
all difficult. His body language was good, and his
communication with players was impressive.
He was absolutely killed by VAR. For the first penalty, how on
earth was that a clear and obvious error? It took multiple
replays to prove that the ball even touched the defender's hand,
had it not touched the hand it was going into row Z, it was just
a ridiculous VAR intervention. The referee was sent to look at
the monitor, but realistically they are risking their FIFA
status if they go against a VAR recommendation. Likewise the
caution isn't the referee's fault, UEFA say that any handling
offence in the penalty area must be a caution. That is a
nonsense, as in this occasion there was no denying of a
promising attack as the ball was heading to the stand, and
indeed the handling turned a goal kick into a penalty so it did
totally the opposite.
The second penalty was way more clear, his arms were out and
that is always going to be given. Likewise the disallowed
England goal, a bit soft but Abraham did foul the defender, and
the height of the contact probably did pique VAR's interest.

While I can definitely see the resemblance, I can't help but see
Mr. Obrenovic as a hybrid of Jeff and Jarred's former A-League
collegue; 2014 World Cup referee and local boy (for me at
least), the now retired Ben Williams!
