Leyton Orient v Hartlepool

I see on the BBC site that there are suggestions that the ref
forgot to add on 4 mins of injury time at the end if the 1st
half so tagged them into the start if the 2nd! Can you do this
in law??
Surprisingly the ref was Alan Young!

I too have read a report that the referee brought the players
back after the half time break for four minutes play. Then blew
his whistle and the teams changed ends and started the second
half. I find it difficult to give credence to such a story at a
junior amateur level let alone in the EFL. Why on earth
didn't one of the ARs or 4th say at the end of the first
half " you've forgotten to add on time" which presumably was
shown on the boards ? The whole thing does sound very suspect.
If true, however, then it displays such a staggering
incompetence that this referee should not be allowed to control
a professional football match again for a very long time....and
seeing that the referee in question is Alan Young that will be
no loss to professional football.
I shall wait to see if the reported events are confirmed.

If this is indeed the case, it is inexcusable! Getting decisions
wrong is one thing, but for all 4 officials to allow this to
happen is so unbelievably poor!

Peter Walton said they were correct to play the added time but
as the referee is sole judge of time, how do you end up playing
that time after half time?
How did they restart??
Then to blow up, swap ends and have 2nd half kick off?
Surely mass hysteria, cannot be true 😆😆😆

Surprised no official picked up on it, it’s hardly something
hard to miss

Sth very similar happened to Pol van Boekal in the last few
years, I recall.
From what I read, everything in this case was completed
according to the LotG - halftime is required to be a maximum of
fifteen minutes, and in this case Young and team obviously just
played a nominal minute or so while the teams changed ends.
To be honest, some of these comments are way too harsh IMO -
sh*t happens, and I'd sooner criticise a referee if he
showed a deficient foul recognition, disciplinary control, soft
skills etc. It seems that some people are a bit too happy to
criticise because it is *this* particular referee, which is a
bit sad IMO.

Had you see Alan Young so comprehensively lose control and put
in just about one of the worst performances I have ever seen in
over fifty years of watching professional football, as I did at
Portman Road, then you would understand why his reputation is
totally deserved. Harsh? I don't think so, accurate is more
like it.

It should not have happened so if he played the 4 mins added
time in the second half, that is wrong in law. Extract from Law
7 states:
"The Referee must not compensate for a timekeeping error
during the first half by changing the length of the second
half".
Case closed.
