       QPR v Sunderland.

Has anyone seen the video footage regarding the QPR disallowed
       goal ?
Now as a Sunderland fan I think we "got away with one" but
others seem to think it was a correct call.
I would be interested in other viewpoints.

Yes and given the criticism written on BBC website and elsewhere
I had to look and I think folks have missed the point. When the
ball is crossed from the inside edge of the penalty box the
assistant had a decision to make. The attacker is in line with
the last defender. Just before the cross you could argue
offside, just after the the ball is played onside. The poor
assistant has to look at the moment the ball is crossed and over
the far side at the same time which of course he cannot due to
human limitations so he goes by instinct or feeling. Not giving
a decision is not an option and IMHO he may have got it wrong
but it was very, very close. He may have been right - shoe lace
perhaps. VAR was introduced to get these tight calls right but
was not available. QPR were perhaps unlucky but it was not a bad
decision. Possibly a wrong one but given for understandable
       reasons.
What upsets me is that many social media posters totally missed
the point, the problem the assistant had and the near
impossibility of getting it right every time in those
circumstances. Even the BBC website gave space to some of the
histrionics of those who hadn't a clue about offside and just
wanted to sound off. As Philip Neville said, social media is a
cesspit and I feel for the officials.

It was tight and I think he got it wrong.
More concerning thing for me is an email a qpr fans advising the
efl not to put the officials on at another qpr game game “as it
would be difficult to guarantee their safety”

They should also email the players who missed their penalties as
       well.

Quite, but having watched the highlights on Quest last night, I
think there's plenty of traction that Mark Dwyer raised his flag
for Adomah being offside when the ball was headed to him and
       before he knocked it across.
He was probably level, but it was marginal.

Is this the same incident? It bears little relation to the
description given by Failed Ref. Calling this one as offside
could only be due to a loss of concentration (confused by the
defender being closer to the goal line than the goalkeeper) or
       being completely out of position.

Having found highlights on YouTube it appears that the AR
flagged for a player coming back from an offside position
earlier in the move and was correct

As a Sunderland fan I am obviously happy this decision went in
our favour, but I'm also realistic enough to know that I would
have been leaping up and down with rage if we'd been the
attacking side and it had gone against us. Having seen the
footage it certainly looks like the flag was raised due to the
QPR player being well offside when the initial kick was taken
but to me it throws up another question. Do the current offside
rules give the assistant referees far too much to think about? I
personally think they do and it must be a nightmare for these
guys having to decide who did what, where and when in the split
second they have to make a decision. I know the offside rule has
always thrown up its fair share of controversies but have the
authorities gone too far with the changes?
